The Exersaucer

Sarah Grace will not bear any weight on her legs. We are trying different things to encourage her to bear weight and one of the things recommended by her physical therapist was to get an exersaucer and get her upright and her feet beneath her. So far she hates it. We don't leave her alone in it. We are always right there to encourage her and try to get her to engage with the toys on it. Her favorite activity in the exersaucer is to put her arms straight down either side and fling herself forward and back screaming. Well today we had good progress! She played. We played. I even held Hannah in my lap sitting infront of the exersaucer and she played with the toys as well as Sarah Grace. They played with the same toys. They interacted with the toys together.

It made me cry!

Sarah Grace is so happy to sit back and watch. She hasn't been interested in interacting with us or with toys. Lately, it's like she is coming out of her shell. She has always been happy to be held and be loved on. but now she smiles and lights up when you go to pick her up. She pushes against your chest so she can look up at you. She pats at your face and chest. She coos. She giggles. And she makes her mother extremely proud. I cried watching my two girls play together.

It's happy days like today that I am easily able to forget about developmental delays, probable tubes in ears, and heart surgery. My girls are amazing. And it makes me so happy to see lights going off in Sarah Grace. To see she is so smart.

She is my Super Star!
